The exhibition continues the foundation's Icons of Modern Art series, which earlier looked at the collectors Sergei Shchukin, the Morozov brothers and Samuel Courtauld. It is shown in two parts, one on Fayet as a collector and one on his work as an artist and designer.
The foundation's page describes Fayet as an early buyer of Van Gogh, an early exhibitor of Picasso and the creator of a Gauguin "museum" in his Paris home. It also cites his friendship with Odilon Redon, who painted a large decorative scheme for Fayet's abbey at Fontfroide.
